Blending Psychotherapy, Science, Bob believes that our natural state is to be mentally healthy. This state of equilibrium never goes away; it only becomes obscured through our learned patterns of thinking. When people lose contact with this natural state, they can feel out of emotional balance and fall into a spiral of negative thinking. It is our thinking about the circumstances in our lives rather than the circumstances themselves that causes us distress. Each person has the ability to access this innate well-being at any moment regardless of his or her situation. Once we understand this simple but fundamental truth, change can occur.
There is always hope, no matter how great your distress or how long you have been suffering. We all have an innate ability to heal—and we all have the capacity to live our lives with greater ease, confidence and empowerment. In his 18 years of practice, Bob has worked with hundreds of clients, each with his/her own unique challenges including:
Bob has been described as a gifted psychotherapist who is also a psychiatrist. He acts as a partner and guide to his clients as they gain self-awareness and learn to use their own intuition as a compass for their personal life journeys. As a practitioner of integrative medicine, Bob understands the power of the body/mind connection. Taking time to listen to our physical symptoms can be very important to the healing process. Viewing the messages of our bodies as gifts can provide new pathways to greater self-knowledge and insight into the issues in our lives. In addition to his private practice, Bob is a consulting psychiatrist at the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine in La Jolla, California, where he facilitates an ongoing weekly support group, Healing from the Inside Out. |
